The Bui Power Authority (BPA) says it is likely there will be a controlled spillage of the Bui reservoir on Wednesday, October 23, 2019.
Consequently, the BPA says it has instituted adequate measures to ensure that life and property are protected during and after the spillage.
THE BPA HAS DEBUNKED VIDEOS CIRCULATING ON SOCIAL MEDIA SHOWING AN OVERFLOW OF WATER ONTO SOME ROADS IN THE SAVANNA REGION PURPORTED TO BE COMING FROM THE BUI GENERATING STATION (BGS) CONTROLLED SPILLAGE EXERCISE.
In a statement, signed and issued by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Fred Oware, the BPA said it was currently sensitising communities along the downstream river channel and also monitoring inflows upstream.
It said it will undertake the controlled spillage “if observed inflows exceed what the reservoir can accommodate. Based on our projections, it is likely that there will be a Controlled Spillage" on Wednesday, October 23, 2019
