CONSTRUCTION OF NATIONAL CATHEDRAL UNDERWAY

On Thursday, 5th March, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, laid the foundation stone for the commencement of construction of the National Cathedral.


The hundred million dollar edifice which will be completed in four years is expected to signify a physical embodiment of unity, harmony and spirituality.


It is being funded by the religious community.


The president in his speech stated that, the Cathedral will not just be another national monument adorning the skyline of Accra.

It will be the rallying point for the Christian community to come together to worship, to pray and to promote deep national conversations on the role of faith in building Ghana and it's Its construction deserves the full support of the nation, the president said.


According to the president, constructing the national cathedral is as act of thanksgiving as God has been faithful to the fortunes of the country. Nana Addo said, he believes the reason why, Ghana has been spared from civil war, famine and epidemic is by the grace of God.



The National Cathedral will be Africa’s first-ever Bible Museum with an iconic infrastructure for national, regional and international pilgrimage and tourism. It will be a monument to religious liberty.


The Cathedral will have chapels and baptistery, a 5000 seater auditorium which is expandable to a fifteen thousand people for national events and celebrations.


The foundation stone was laid at where the altar will be built. And to make it very significant, the foundation stone was flown from Israel from the wailing wall.
