CORONAVIRUS: 12 PEOPLE UNDER 14 DAYS MANDATORY QUARANTINE TESTED POSITIVE OF COVID-19

As of 25 March, total of 1,030 persons are under mandatory quarantine; samples from 863 of them have been tested and 38 confirmed positive.

The Ghana health service stated, majority of the confirmed cases are Ghanaians, who returned home from affected countries.

Seven (7) are of other nationalities namely: Norway, Lebanon, China and UK. In respect of contact tracing, a total of 829 contacts have been identified and are being tracked.



Ghana health Services has confirmed of 15 new cases of COVID-19 in the West African country.


Out of the 15 new cases, three(3) patients was as a result of general population and twelve (12) people under 14 days mandatory quarantined by the government tested positive.

The sudden spike in case incidence is as a result of the mandatory quarantine and compulsory testing for all travelers entering Ghana, as directed by the president.


Overall, 30 of the 68 cases have been reported in the general population with the remaining 38 cases among persons currently under mandatory quarantine.

One hundred and sixty-one (161) have completed the 14 days of mandatory follow up.



What should I do to keep my spirit up while in self-quarantine?


Being under quarantine can be frightening. The following should be done to reduce anxiety -- Talk to the other members of the family about the COVID-19. Understanding the disease will reduce anxiety. -- Reassure young children using age-appropriate language. -- Think about how you have coped with difficult situations in the past and reassure yourself that you will cope with this situation too. Remember that quarantine won’t last for long. -- Keep in touch with family members and friends via telephone, email or social media. -- Stock plenty of materials to read to keep your mind occupied. -- Exercise regularly from your quarantine area. -- Ensure that you drink at least 8 glasses of water every day to keep hydrated. -- Eat all your meals in a timely manner.
