The University of Ghana Health Services and Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) has formed a Joint Emergency Response Team (UG ERT) to prevent, detect, diagnose and contain any possible outbreak of coronavirus on campuses and the country at large.
ALL PATIENTS WHO ARE FLAGGED WILL BE TAKEN TO ISOLATION AND HOLDING AREAS. THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA HAS ALLOCATED THREE BUNGALOWS FOR QUARANTINING OF SUSPECTED CASES. STUDENTS AND STAFF COMING FROM CHINA AND THOSE WITH TRAVEL HISTORY WILL BE SCREENED AT THE HOSPITAL AND STUDENT CLINICS.
In a communique released Thursday, the two institutions outlined actions rolled for detection, diagnosis and containment in its emergency preparedness in case of an outbreak of the deadly virus.
It said the NMIMR will continue its role as the national receiving point and testing of samples from health institutions in the country and the sub-region.
There will also be handwashing and alcohol-based sanitisers positioned at vantage places for students and staff on campus.

All patients who are flagged will be taken to isolation and holding areas.
The University of Ghana has allocated three bungalows for quarantining of suspected cases.
Students and staff coming from China and those with travel history will be screened at the hospital and student clinics.
Also, all confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection will be transferred to Ridge Hospital immediately.
