COVID-19: 2 MORE DEAD AS CASE COUNT REACHES 8,297

There are thirteen (13) severe cases, three 3) in critical condition with one (1) patient on a ventilator. Two persons have died of the novel coronavirus moving the death toll to 38.

Five (5) regions recorded new cases of COVID-19 during the latest update.



The Ghana Health Service (GHS), on the latest update on June, 2nd, 2020 on the nation's case count of the novel coronavirus has said, the case count has increased by 227 bringing the total confirmed case to 8,297.


Recovered cases have also increased by 39 bringing total recovery to 2,986. Total active cases at the time of the latest update stand at 5,273 cases.


There are thirteen (13) severe cases, three 3) in critical condition with one (1) patient on a ventilator. Two persons have died of the novel coronavirus moving the death toll to 38.

On the 37th death report, the GHS said the patient was a 52-year-old female with metastatic Ovarian cancer and gastro internal bleeding. She reported to a hospital in Kumasi with respiratory symptoms.


She was admitted and isolated but died three days later while on admission. She was confirmed COVID-19 positive.


On the 38th death report, she was a 64-year-old female who was admitted with an initial diagnosis of Congestive Cardiac Failure and bilateral pneumonia and later confirmed COVID-19 positive. She died two days while on admission too.


Out of the 15 regions which have recorded cases of novel coronavirus, five (5) regions recorded new cases during the latest update.



Greater Accra Region had the highest recorded case of 182, Ashanti Region recorded 16 cases, Western Region 15 new cases, Volta Region 8 cases, and Central Region 6 cases.
