COVID-19: 204 CONFIRMED CASES WHILE TWO PATIENTS REMAIN IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Most of the cases are reported from routine / enhanced surveillance activities. Cases from travellers under mandatory quarantine remain 89.

Out of the total confirmed cases, three (3) persons have recovered full and have been discharged; whilst one other is awaiting results of laboratory test to inform decision on discharge.

• Greater Accra Region has most recorded cases (183) followed by the Northern Region (10), Ashanti Region (9), Upper West Region (1) and Eastern Region (1).



The Ghana Health Service has confirmed nine (9) additional COVID-19 cases all from Greater Accra region.


Currently, a total of 204 cases has been recorded with five (5) deaths from five (5) regions. Greater Accra, Ashanti, Northern, Upper West and Eastern.


"Two (2) patients are in a critical condition", the Ghana Health Service has said.


All five (5) deaths had underlying chronic medical conditions prior to COVID-19 infection.

The Greater Accra Region has most recorded cases (183) followed by the Northern Region (10), Ashanti Region (9), Upper West Region (1) and Eastern Region (1).


Four (4) of the newly recorded cases has no history of travel nor contact with any confirmed case.


Community spread


Other four (4) also has no travel history but came into contact with previous confirmed cases in the country. That last of the nine (9) confirmed cases recorded today had travelled to Ghana from Benin within the past 14 days.

Recovered and Discharged


Out of the total confirmed cases, three (3) persons have recovered full and have been discharged; whilst one other is awaiting results of laboratory test to inform decision on discharge.


Thirty-one (31) confirmed cases improved significantly with no symptoms and have been discharged from admission for home care pending repetition of laboratory tests.

This adds to the 18 that were earlier being managed from home and bring the number of cases on home care to forty-nine (49).
