• The third Ghanaian Community in China – Wenzhou Chapter (GCCWZ) New Year get-together came off on the first day of January 2020. The colorful occasion took off with a fascinating soccer tournament at the Wenzhou Medical University’s playground which later culminated in a grand dinner at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Banquet Hall.
• An occasion which was originally planned for a handful of participants witnessed an overwhelming number of people; patriots and well-wishers from neighboring nations in the diaspora as well as indigenous (Chinese) nationals.
• Owing to the diverse cultures represented, the event held friendship and integration as one of its core messages, and witnessed a lot of bonding and fun among participants.
• As the host nation, the enthusiastic Ghanaian side, played their hearts out to a painful 2-1 loss against their Eastern African brothers. The Aces of East Africa, started off with great momentum and were able to comfortably grab the opening goal of the march and the tournament, through their versatile number 80, Abu.

SPECIAL AWARDS WENT OUT TO DESERVING PATRIOTS WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED IMMENSELY TO THE SUCCESSES OF THE COMMUNITY. THE AWARDEES WERE WITHIN THE CATEGORIES OF MOST ACTIVE MEMBER, BEST INNOVATION, MOST DEDICATED MEMBER, SPORTS PERSONALITY AND EVENTS. SOME OTHER AWARDS FOR THE NIGHT WERE, BEST ADORNED LADY OF THE NIGHT, AND MOST CLASSY GENTLEMAN. ALL AWARDED INDIVIDUALS EXPRESSED THEIR JOY AND GRATITUDE TO BE HONORED AT SUCH AN OCCASION AND PLEDGED TO DO MORE TOWARDS THE GOOD OF THE COMMUNITY.
As the host nation, the enthusiastic Ghanaian side, played their hearts out to a painful 2-1 loss against their Eastern African brothers. The Aces of East Africa, started off with great momentum and were able to comfortably grab the opening goal of the march and the tournament, through their versatile number 80, Abu.
They dominated the first half with consistent strikes targeted at getting more goals but failed, thanks to the athleticism and quick reflexes of the highly talented Ghanaian shot-stopper. The ‘Black Stars of Wenzhou’ started the second half looking sharper and quicker, and their efforts soon paid off with a lovely finish from star man Raymond to level the scores, and kept on mounting pressure to enhance their winning chances.
However, the game was put to bed with a golden finish from Abu, grabbing his brace for the day and eventually booking his team’s ticket to the final. The second game of the day witnessed Southern Africa vs Somalia and it was a victory for the Somali side, who managed a 3-1 win. Ghana played the Southern African side for the bronze medal and revenged their loss with a convincing 2-1 win. Eastern Africa played Somalia in the final, a highly competitive end to end action, with both sides displaying great passion.
All ended in a 2-1 victory for the Aces side, who deservedly went home with the much coveted gold trophy. The other deserving awards for the afternoon went to Goalkeeper Abenatan of Ghana, striker Abdu of Somalia and the Aces starter and finisher, Abu, who took home gold coated relics for the best goalkeeper, best player and top goal scorer respectively.
The day was made complete at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Banquet Hall later in the night with a grand dinner. In attendance were some honorable members within the African diaspora community here in Wenzhou, founders and CEOs of promising start ups, Chinese friends and well-wishers, and our own business magnate and vice president Mr. Emmanuel Tackie and family. The night kick started with pure traditional mixes from our finest DJ, DJ Vanz. Our Iconic president Dr. Percy, took over with the Soul Band crew and treated the audience to a wide variety of melodious tunes. They sang songs from Ghanaian origin to western and finally back to the Chinese locus to the satisfaction of all and sundry.
Mr. Emmanuel Tackie (vice president) in an opening address, welcomed the guests and exhorted everyone to a night of fun. He also reiterated the aim for the get-together and encouraged the Ghanaians in attendance to be patriotic and be committed to the nation and all that concerns it.
Speaking as one of the guest of honors for the occasion, Mr. George of Hamster international introduced his company and unveiled a surprise package for both food lovers and AI enthusiasts. He said, going into 2020, the company plans to extend services of food delivery to the two major Universities campuses in Chashan, good news for students especially in the chilly winter.
Miss Dephine, CEO of Dephine Boutique gave the audience a wonderful glimpse of Africa by an ecstatic fashion display of purely African fabric. The Zimbabwean born princess promised to Unify Africans in the diaspora as well as showcase Africa in a positive light to the outside world through fashion.
Special awards went out to deserving patriots who have contributed immensely to the successes of the community. The awardees were within the categories of most active member, Best innovation, most dedicated Member, sports personality and events. Some other awards for the night were, best adorned lady of the night, and most classy gentleman. All awarded individuals expressed their joy and gratitude to be honored at such an occasion and pledged to do more towards the good of the community.
Most active member went to Mr. Kangberee Jonas and Mr. Obeng Ampofo Emmanuel. Best Innovation Of The Year went to Mr. Nyavor Hope (Hamster) whiles the most dedicated member In Sports was pick by Mr. Nimo Atta Kyere. Most Dedicated member In Event Organization went to Mr. Obeng Ampofo Emmanuel and the award for the most dedicated member In meeting attended & general contributions went to Mr. Kangberee Jonas

The president of the community, Dr. Percy David Papa Akuetteh, in his closing remarks, thanked all the participants and urged the award winners to keep their patriotic spirits afire as they continue to work hard for their own betterment and the welfare of the community and nation at large. He also charged the entire community to stay committed to the vision of the community and contribute in any way possible to ensure her goals are realized in 2020.
