‘I LOST THE PARLIAMENTARY PRIMARY SO I TOOK MY CARS AWAY– HUMILIATED NPP ASPIRANT

THE HUMILIATED NPP ASIRANT, HAS LAUNCHED A SPIRITED DEFENCE OF HIS DECISION TO TAKE BACK THE CARS.

The humiliated NPP parliamentary aspirant in the just ended primaries, Elisha Debrah Odoom, has launched a spirited defence of his decision to take back the cars.

Release and presentation of the cars, he insisted, were conditioned on his success and since he lost the elections, he is compelled to return the vehicles from the car-dealer he took them from.

DURING THE POLL ON SATURDAY, PARADED THE NPP BRANDED CARS AT THE ELECTION GROUND WITH A PROMISE TO DONATE THEM TO THE PARTY AFTER THE PRIMARIES.

The NPP conducted its parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies on Saturday to select candidates for the impending Parliamentary elections.

These were constituencies where the NPP failed to win during the 2016 elections and therefore the seats are held by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Debrah Odoom, during the poll on Saturday, paraded the NPP branded cars at the election ground with a promise to donate them to the party after the primaries.

Each of the nine Zones in the constituency was expected to benefit from the donation with the last vehicle going to the constituency office.

However, Mr. Debrah Odoom lost miserably and was able to garner only 67 votes as against his opponent who secured 411 votes.

In irritation at his lost, he ordered the cars to be loaded on a trailer and taken away to his residence to utter shock of the delegates.

He, however, issued a release on Saturday defending his action.

He argued that the cars were procured under special arrangement with a car-dealership to be used as taxis for the benefit of the all-party members and not just the delegates in the nine zones.

“This special arrangement was “work-and-pay kind as done in the normal scheme of things.”

“The release and presentation of the cars was therefore conditioned on the success of our candidature and as we speak now the cars have been sent back because having lost the election, we will not have the leverage to guarantee compliance of the payments schedule as agreed with the car-dealer.”

No delegate, he said, has been given a car as being reported in the media.
