New Mask Rules Nationwide - Masks Required in Crowded Public Areas
The country reported 47 local infections in five provinces on Friday, along with five asymptomatic cases, the lowest domestic case tally in two weeks. 48 Chinese cities had reported a total of nearly 1,300 cases as of Thursday in the ongoing outbreak. But 36 of them had found no new patients in more than five days. Most cities had only reported “sporadic cases”, with the exception of Wuhan, the tourist city Zhangjiajie, and the latest hotspot Yangzhou. People are required to wear masks in indoor venues like malls, cinemas, and public transport, as well as crowded outdoor places such as open squares, theatres, and parks, according to the updated guidelines. Workers who handle imported goods and overseas transport must wear particulate filtering masks, while surgical masks are required in medical facilities and public areas. Health authorities have also added Covid-19 control rules to facilities like mahjong parlors, sightseeing vessels and open-air theatres in response to outbreaks traced to these venues.

During the week, several cities have announced clear-out of medium-risk areas, and the whole cities are now under low risk, transportation and life are eventually getting back to normal status, including: Chengdu(Sichuan), changsha(Hu’nan), Xiangtan(Hu’nan), Dalian(Liaoning), Shenyang(Liaoning), Xiamen(Fujian), and Suqian(Jiangsu).
Zhangjiajie (Hunan): Travelers return home after quarantine
Zhangjiajie in Central China's Hunan Province, which has become another key point of resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic spreading across China following Nanjing, released the first batch of travelers today.
As per the local epidemic control requirement, travelers who were in Zhangjiajie at the end of July during the outbreak, should undergo 3 testings before leaving. Later on, traveling restriction were announced in the city and people were asked to avoid leaving the city. Over 1200 passengers had to extend their stay time and take 14 days quarantine.
For the 440 travelers that left Zhangjiajie on Aug 13, they have all finished quarantine and got negative results during all 5 tests.
Zhengzhou: 10 million tested in 32 hours, new record.
On August 13, Zhengzhou announced that it had completed another round of nucleic acid testing for more than 10 million residents in the city within 32 hours, which had created a new record.
And the 4th round of citywide testing will start from August 15 on.
Starting from August 12, those who really need to leave Zhengzhou, will have to submit both the COVID test certificates and permits from communities or employers. It aims to cut off epidemic spread across cities.
Guangzhou: Close contact under investigation, 14+7 quarantine for travelers from abroad
On August 12, Guangzhou reported a case who was tested positive during home health monitoring. The case is a Chinese, he came back from UK and infected with the Delta Variant.
His test results were all ok during centralized quarantine.
107 close contacts have been investigated and all are under centralized quarantine.
As of 8am on August 13, 389511 residents in the 11 related communities from 3 districts in Guangzhou, have accepted testing. In order to take better management on travelers coming to Guangzhou from abroad, from August 13 on, all should take 7-day home quarantine (Not allowed to go out) after the 14-day centralized quarantine, instead of the 7-day home monitoring (Going-out is allowed but need to accept healthy monitoring from communities).
