NPP PRIMARIES: SHOCKING RESULTS, INCUMBENT MPS HUMBLED; DROPPED BY DELEGATES LIKE FLIES

Majority of these MPs were hopeful of retaining their seat and engaged in a vigorous campaign to the best of their knowledge. But at the end of the day, they came crashing down like a pack of cards.

Chairman of Parliament's Finance Committee Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah lost the NPP primary in his constituency.

Chairman of Parliament's Communications Committee Fredrick Opare Ansah also lost.

Chairman of Parliament's Education Committee William Quaitoo suffered an excruciating defeat as well.



A number of sitting Members of Parliament surprisingly lost their seat in Saturday's primaries by the New Patriotic Party (NPP)


The majority of these MPs were hopeful of retaining their seat and engaged in a vigorous campaign to the best of their knowledge. But at the end of the day, they came crashing down like a pack of cards.

The list of defeated incumbent MPs is like a who's who in a contest of legendary parliamentarians. 


The Chairman of Parliament's Finance Committee Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah lost the NPP primary in his constituency.


Chairman of Parliament's Communications Committee Fredrick Opare Ansah also lost.


Chairman of Parliament's Education Committee William Quaitoo suffered an excruciating defeat as well.


Chairman of Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee Ben Abdallah, likewise.


Chairman of Parliament's Government Assurances Committee Collins Owusu Amankwaah was also snubbed by NPP delegates.


Same as Chairman of Parliament's Youth and Sports Committe Alex Agyekum.


As if these were not shocking enough, the Vice Chairman of Parliament's Agriculture Committee Abraham Odoom will not be in Parliament in 2020.


Vice chairman of Parliament's Roads Committee Kofi Brako was also kicked out.


Vice chairman of Parliament's Trade and Industry Committee Ato Panford, also lost. So at least 9 chairmen and vice chairmen have lost and still counting.


Alongside several other MPs including Daniel Okyem Aboagye - Bantama; Joseph Adda - Navrongo; Collins Amankwa - Manhyia North; Kennedy Kankam - Nhyiaso, and Mark Asibey-Yeboah - New Juaben South.


The rest are: Albert Quarm Joseph - Manso Nkwanta; Hon. Nana Amoako - Upper Denkyira East.


In the Upper West Region, three incumbents were dropped: Sissala West MP, Patrick Adama, Ridwan Abass - Sisssla East, Wa East - Godfred Bayong Tangu


This means these MPs will not return to Parliament in 2021.
