On Monday, 11th November 2019, Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led government delegation for bilateral talks with a Chinese delegation led by H.E Sun Chunlan, Vice-Premier of the People's Republic of China, at Jubilee House, the seat of Government.

VARIOUS MATTERS OF MUTUAL BENEFITS TO BOTH GHANA AND CHINA WERE DISCUSSED. QUITE SIGNIFICANT AMONG THE KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE MEETINGS IS THE FACT THAT CHINA GOVERNMENT HAS RELEASED FUNDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS CAPTURED IN THE FIRST PHASE OF THE SINOHYDRO BAUXITE FOR INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITY.

Assisted by the visiting Vice-Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, H.E Sun Chunlan, there was also a sod cutting at the Tema Technical Institute for construction works to begin on the $130m TVET upgrade project, which would see construction and or upgrading of training facilities in 15 TVET institutions with state of the art equipment.

The fifteen institutions to benefit from this facility are:

1. Bolga Technical University 2. Cape Coast Technical University 3. Kumasi Technical University 4. Sunyani Technical University 5. Tamale Technical University 6. Tema Technical Institute

7. Ashiaman Technical Institute 8. Comboni Technical Institute 9. St. Pauls Technical Institute 10. Takoradi Technical institute 11. Kumasi Technical Institute

12. Bawku Technical Institute 13. St. Josephs Technical institute 14. Sunyani Methodist Technical Institute 15. Cape Coast Technical institute

The institutions will see upgrades in and construction of state of the art training workshops for mechanical engineering, automobile engineering, civil engineering, welding engineering and others.

This is a major transformation of TVET education in Ghana.
