“People leave the national team with pain, I don’t want to mention names but there are a lot of players I can testify,” Gyan told Adom TV. He added, “for me, I believe people have observed what I have done, so if they decide to give me a farewell my soul will be happy. Although people appreciate me on the street it all depends on how they want to do it.” Stephen Appiah who led Ghana to its first-ever World Cup in 2006 is the only player to have played a testimonial game in recent times. “I can decide with my team that I want to play a testimonial game, GFA can also decide that they will do something for me, maybe I will play a game or something, it will depend on them. Secondly, it will depend on how I want it to be done, for now, I’m still in the game, as time goes on ideas will come.”

The former Sunderland player who is yet to call it quits after 17-years of active football emphasized that when the time is right to retire he wouldn’t hesitate to do so.

“I’m still active as a player so I haven’t planned anything. One-day I can wake up in the morning and say that I will continue to play till the next four years, the next morning I can wake up in the morning and inform my brother that I’m done. So it depends on how the day goes because the human body changes each day but for now I’m okay playing football,” Gyan said in the interview monitored by Ghanaweb.
