UNIVERSITY OF GHANA SUSPENDS LECTURES AND PUBLIC GATHERINGS ON CAMPUSES TO COMBAT COVID-19

• The university urged students and staff who reside on campuses of the University to remain as those who may have the the infection are likely to spread the virus when they leave.

• The University of Ghana said its Emergency Response Team has linked up with the national contact tracing team to enhance effort at containing the spread of the disease.

The University of Ghana (UG), Legon has suspended lectures on all campuses, including clinical and practical with immediate effect.


In view of suspension of lectures, authorities  of the University have advised students and  staff who reside outside UG campuses and currently off   campus to keep away until they are asked to return.

A statements issued by the University said staff providing essential service are excluded from this directive.


The statement said the University Basic School and the Baby Nest Creche on the Legon Campus are to be closed down until further notice.


According to authorities the University will not be closed down until  contact tracing has been effectively completed.


They therefore urged students and staff who reside on campuses of the University to remain as those who  may have the the infection are likely to spread the virus when they leave.
