• A person is taken to know that a communication is fake or misleading if that person did not take reasonable steps to find out whether the communication was false, misleading, reckless or fraudulent.
The Operation Safety Covid Committee which includes the Ministry of National Security, Ministry of health, ministry of Information, Ghana Health Service, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Security Governance Initiative Secretariat, Ghana Police, Ghana Armed Forces, CSDS Africa and Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued a caution to the general public on making and sharing of fake videos and news on social media platforms.
According the Operation Safety Covid Committee making or sharing of fake videos or news is a crime punishable under the Ghanaian law.
"A person who by means of electronic communications, knowingly sends a communication which is false or misleading and likely to prejudice the efficiency of life safety service or to endanger the safety of any person commits and offence" SECTION 76 ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS ACT2008 ACT775 says.

The offend on summery conviction is liable to a fine of 36,000 Ghanaian cedis or a term of imprisonment not more than 5years or both.

The general public is therefore cautioned to desist from making and sharing such videos which is a crime by Law.
One will be personally held liable of posting, forwarding and sharing of such videos on whatsApp, facebook, twitter or any other electronic media platform.
