THE NDC, KWAME ZU WAS HEARD MAKING WHAT THE COUNCIL CONSIDERS TO BE UNCOMPLIMENTARY REMARKS ABOUT THE OKYEHENE
The main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has been forced into retreat after the party’s hostile collision with Okyeman.
Stalwart and former Eastern Regional Minister, Victor Smith told Kasapa FM on Thursday the Party in the coming weeks is likely to engage all party communicators and re-orient them on communicating in a pleasant manner.
“Go in there and talk in an intelligent way without using abusive language, without insulting especially traditional rulers or opinion leaders in society. If you do that you attract admiration for yourself and the party as a whole,” he advised on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 Fm.
WE CAN DO TIT FOR TAT WITH THE NPP BUT NOT WITH OUR TRADITIONAL RULERS, BECAUSE THEY ALSO HAVE THEIR OWN CONSTITUENCIES. A PARTY, GOVERNMENT WILL COME AND GO, THEY ARE STILL THERE, SO WE NEED TO BECAREFUL.
The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council has given the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) three days to render a public apology to the Okyehene for some unsavory comments an Ashanti Regional executive of the party made about their King.
The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Kwame Zu was heard making what the Council considers to be uncomplimentary remarks about the Okyehene.
He suggested that the King drank the same water with animals prior to the John Mahama led administration coming into power.
The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council led by its State Secretary Daniel Marfo Ofori addressing the media after a demonstration Monday morning roundly condemned the comments.
“We demand a direct, clear and unambiguous apology rendered by the leadership of the National Democratic Congress to His Royal Majesty the Okyehene and Okyeman. A ritual pacification be performed to appease his Majesty the Okyehene. An apology rendered personally by Mr. Kwame Zu to the Okyehene and a public recantation of the offensive words and specific conduct complained of. Invocation of appropriate disciplinary sanction of the party against Mr Kwame Zu.””
“Should they choose to ignore these pronouncements and demands, Nananom will not accord them any future request for clemency and redemption of their customary transgressions. If they fail to heed the National Democratic Congress(NDC) its ward executive, branch, constituency, regional and national executive will be banned from all official functions under the auspices of the Ofori Panin stool and shall be declared persona non grata in all palaces of the over 940 towns and villages and settlements in Akyem Abuakkwa,” The State Secretary added.
Meanwhile, the Okyeman caucus in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by Smith on Wednesday asked the Okyeman Traditional Council to “temper justice with mercy” over the unsavory comments made by Kwame Zu.

Interacting with host Kweku Owusu Adjei on Thursday, Mr. Victor Smith condemned the utterances by Kwame Zu entreating others to engage in constructive criticisms, while offering valid and well-reasoned opinions devoid of insults.
“NDC is the alternative to the current administration, however in our quest to get power we shouldn’t go and create more troubles for ourselves. The ruling NPP has brought untold hardships to Ghanaians and we should focus to rescue Ghanaians in the next elections. I beg all communicators of our party to watch how they talk so as not to run themselves into trouble. We can do tit for tat with the NPP but not with our traditional rulers, because they also have their own constituencies. A party, government will come and go, they are still there, so we need to becareful.
